Hypnotherapy Memory Improvement: Concentration, Retention, Recall

I would like you to meditate on this for a moment. As you sit there and read this article, a stream of information is coming in through your eyes. But you are also hearing different sounds, sensing bodily feelings like the pressure of your chair against your buttocks and back, the touch of the clothing on your body, and the air temperature and movement on your skin. You are also receiving sensations through your nose in the form of aromas. And of course, you're receiving data in the form of the various tastes in your mouth.

And think about the emotional thoughts that you are presently feeling? That's also data that you're presently processing. We live in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost no matter what you may ever want to know is only a few clicks of a mouse away.

I recently read an editorial that said that even in a tranquil and peaceful environment, we are bombarded by sixty thousand stimuli per second. And that's happening sixty seconds out of each minute, and sixty minutes out of each hour. And it goes on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, week in and week out for our entire life.

And that is a big part of the crisis. We are all being tormented by "information overload." And that makes it very tricky to memorize all of the data that we want to memorize or need to be able to remember.

Very often, as we are reading, we find that our eyes have been traversing the sentences on the page, while our conscious mind has been off somewhere else on a tangent. When we get to the bottom of the page, we become conscious of the fact that our eyes have seen the words, but we have no conscious memory of what we have just read. That's because our mind has been somewhere else thinking about a problem, or working out a plan.

Today it's widespread to hear even young people utter things like, "I'm having a senior moment." No matter what your age, and whether you are a student, part of the labor, or a retired senior, you know what I'm talking about. In our frenzied world it is all too often quite difficult to focus your attention.

SO WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING SCENARIOS IS YOUR PROBLEM?

A. Your mind starts to roam as you study or read, and then suddenly you recognize that you have no idea what you've read.

B. When you are in a social environment and you are introduced to new contacts, you find that you forget their names almost as rapidly as you hear them.

C. You remember that you have a chore to do in another room; but as soon as you start to go to the other room you totally forget what that job is.

D. You can stay focused and understand new information. But when you take a test, "Test Anxiety" rears its ugly head and triggers a mental block, and you are not able to recollect the answers to the questions on the examination that you in fact know.

The chief cause of a person's incapacity to focus their attention is nervous tension. And the chief cause of a mental block to recall is also nervous tension. So it stands to reason that the more relaxed a person is, the better they will be able to focus their concentration, absorb information, and then be able to recall it at a later date.

Today, hypnotherapy and memory enhancement has become a hot topic. That's partly because hypnosis is a first rate instrument for triggering a relaxed state. As a matter of fact, the very fundamental nature of hypnosis is relaxation. And as the mind calms down, the ability to keep the mind focused increases. Similarly, a serene mind enhances the capability to retain information, and remember it when it is needed.

Self-hypnosis memory improvement is a powerful modality for eliminating test anxiety and mental blocks. There are several hypnotic techniques that can be used to program a person with a positive expectation of relaxation, self-assurance, and achievement while taking tests.

People can take a course on how to apply hypnosis quickly and economically in the privacy of their own home by buying hypnotherapy CD's. You can locate further information on hypnotherapy to improve memory and recall in the Hypnosis Research Library located on my website.
