Roulette Systems Types
Roulette players often use betting systems to give them better odds of winning and to lower the house's statistical advantage. Roulette systems may rely on either progression, or they may not require progression at all. Either type of system has its own set of strengths as well as problems.
There are several different types of progression systems, but the main two are negative and positive progression. In either type, the goal is to turn the house edge into something that will work in the player's favor. Either type may take a prolonged period of play time before the advantage is won.
Systems using negative progression call for the wager being raised after a loss. Many systems, such as the Martingale Progression system, have the next bet after a loss being raised each and every time. If the system is followed correctly, there will eventually be a win at some point, and the player will walk away with winnings, even if the session started out badly. Many players run into trouble with negative progression roulette systems, however, as their bankroll must be extremely large to support any extended play.
The other progression type, positive progression, is also called pyramiding. With this type of system, once the player has won, the winnings are used to aggressively win even larger amounts at the roulette wheel. The obvious downside to this system is that it requires a lot of winning in order to be successful. It also can be wiped out completely as soon as the winnings are lost.
Because playing with roulette systems is so prevalent, casinos are aware of the major systems. Casinos have begun putting various limitations on their roulette tables in an effort to stop progression systems. These limits may be placing a maximum bet amount for the table, or it may mean placing a maximum on the number of plays each player gets in one stretch. Players using roulette systems have to understand the limits and to figure a way of getting around them if they are to be successful with their chosen system.
Because of table limits, many players prefer to use no-progression roulette systems. There are many ways to use these systems, and each relies on a different strategy. Some of these require the player to notice a pattern within the numbers that the ball lands on, and then playing accordingly. Others have different methods, but all provide the player with a way to predict where the ball will land next.
Before deciding on a system for roulette, think about which system will work better with your amount of money to wager, the amount of time available to you for playing roulette, and what odds the system has to offer you. There are systems that may work better for you than others, depending on these criteria, and a few systems out there may have very little to offer you.
