Roulette's History
Roulette is one of the casino's true classics, and it's a rare casino that doesn't have it. But roulette was not always exactly the way it appears to us now. There were several different changes the game went through over the centuries before it finally became our beloved classic.
Long before roulette began, there were several other games that resembled the modern version of the game. In France, as well as in England and Italy, there were games that required a little ball and a wheel of some type. Some of these wheels featured colored slots, much like roulette. Some of these games were likely the inspiration for the game we now play in casinos.
Roulette literally means little wheel in French, where the game originally came from. This earliest roulette version was a little different from the one we know today. It is believed that famous mathematician Blaise Pascal, a probability expert, created the game of roulette himself.
A casino in Paris began using a roulette wheel in much the way they are known today in 1796. After it had been in play for awhile, proving popular with Parisian casino players, it began to spread outside of Paris. In the early 1800s the roulette wheel began popping up in the United States. The game as it was had a very small house edge, prompting American casinos to change the game slightly. An extra number was added to give the house a better advantage, and American roulette was born.
There was a time when France outlawed gambling, and roulette was outlawed with it. During that time, roulette was a popular game in Hamburg, Germany, with locals and tourists alike. During this time, the game continued to grow in popularity and spread to other countries in Europe and beyond.
Eventually, gambling became legal all over France. But, the government restricted the game of roulette to Monte Carlo. This remained in effect until 1933, when the restrictions were eased. Since that time, the game has been played all over France and remains just as popular as it was in its Monte Carlo days.
The internet has moved the game of roulette into another incarnation. The rise of internet casinos has meant that virtual roulette is available for play at all times. Players no longer have to make a trip to a land based casino in order to get in their roulette play time. Gamblers have the choice between traveling to a casino or staying put and playing in a virtual one.
And with the internet, has also come the rise of convenient roulette systems. One roulette systems were something that only the highest tier of gambler knew about, but now anyone can learn a roulette system. The internet has made the information available, like the game, night or day. People seeking workable roulette systems have a lot to choose from, and not all will deliver what is promised. There is just one system available online that really does what it says and delivers an unbeatable system, and that system is available through www.winning-at-roulette.com.
