Last minute stocksing-fillers
Once again it is the season of warm firelight, romance, good fellowship and joy. And once again it is the season for shopping and fun. It's Christmas!
But have you done your Christmas shopping yet, Santa? This is your last shopping day, and you'd better have your list ready if you don't want to waste time in the frenzy of last minute shoppers at Bangkok's department stores.
Here are some gift ideas that will make the holiday season a beautiful memory, for yourself and your special ones.
- Swarovski presents a pair of Crystalline Toasting Flutes with clear, crystal-filled stems and a faceted clear crystal base that creates a kaleidoscope of light. The Blue Necklace, with a removable velvet ribbon, is a versatile piece of jewellery that will complete any Christmas outfit. Each of the four strands of crystal beads can be removed and worn individually, enabling you to create your own look. An elegant Hermes Agenda in lizard, and a Fleurs de Fuchsia, a pink-purple soft silk scarf, also make perfect gifts for this winter.
- A Breguet Plumes Diamonds set _ with 145 diamonds and eight baguette diamonds in an 18-carat white gold case _ is a splendid and sparkling ladies' timepiece. Gracefully elegant for formal occasions, it has a mother of pearl dial and sapphire case back. Off-centre chapter rings with Arabic Breguet numerals and a self-winding movement.
- If you are looking for elegant and stylish watch for men, regardless of budget, the Piaget Limelight Polo Tourbillion watch in 18-carat white gold is a perfect choice. It is designed for men who especially love brilliant-cut diamonds and hand-wound tourbillon movement.
- For gadget lovers, an iFreq FM transmitter works well with all iPods that have a dock connector. It transmits music from an iPod to your car radio, or any other nearby radio. Its small size and ease of use makes it a good way listen to the music on your iPod on a radio.
- Cartier has introduced a special edition Love bracelet, featuring an 18-carat rose-gold ring on a yellow silk cord, designed to honour the King's birthday colour. Part of the proceeds will go to the Pra Dabos Foundation under the patronage of His Majesty the King.
- Libreria at the Siam Society now stocks tasteful Vera Wang stationery. There are thank-you notes, blank cards, as well as wedding cards in various designs. The Collection Line features informal blank cards inspired by the ready-to-wear collection, finished with a hand-tied grosgrain ribbon.
- You know your money will be well spent when you shop at Doi Kham shops, located at both Chiang Mai and Bangkok airports. Fresh temperate climate fruit and vegetables, flowers, processed food and even livestock and fishery products are available, grown by hill tribe villagers in northern Thailand under His Majesty the King's royal initiative. Gift baskets start at 375 baht. Or how about a cookbook for those with a culinary bent? These are available in both English- and Thai-language versions.
And finally, remember that Christmas is meant to be fun. So, enjoy shopping and enjoy giving!
