Introduction to easily creating an e-commerce website
So, you have a great product and want to sell it on the internet! Each week I receive an email or letter asking how to easily create a profitable website without making the mistakes of a beginner. The considerations when creating a money making website are endless. How do I register my website name? What is the right hosting account that I will need? How can I accept payments on my website? What are the best marketing strategies and traffic programs to use for my website? The list can go on and on.....................
Instead of boring you with in-depth answers to these questions, I am going to provide you with 6 steps to "easily" create your own e-commerce website that took less than a day when I went through these steps. The goal is to give you a "Beginners Guide to Creating a Money Making Website" without all the hassles that the beginner usually faces. Don't feel discouraged, even the most successful e-commerce website designer has become overwhelmed when first creating their website.
STEP 1: Pick & Register your "Domain Name," (also known as your "Website Name.")
If you already know the website name that you want, then just simply type it into the domain search box that is located on most domain registrars such as liquidshark.com. If your name is not available, you can quickly and easily get a list of suggested alternatives that you can use.
IMPORTANT: Remember to immediately register your domain name before someone else takes it.
STEP 2: Purchase a "Shopping Cart" Option to accept payments on your website.
This is the most important step to allow you to accept payments and make money. Shopping Cart packages allow you to easily create an e-commerce websites in just a few steps. Often you will also have a website design wizard to let you easily create your website and it is part of the shopping cart package that you will purchase. If you already have a website, you can just add the shopping cart feature to your existing website.
IMPORTANT: The Shopping Cart options include all of your Website Design, Hosting and Payment Processing capabilities in one package. So, don't be fooled into purchasing all of the included services separately.
STEP 3: Design your website with the "Design Wizard" included with the Shopping Cart.
Assuming you purchased a shopping cart package with a website design wizard, you can now quickly design your website. Using the design wizard, simply choose a website template that fits the look and style that you would like for your website. These programs make it very easy to just pick and click the option you want.
IMPORTANT: Pick a website template and colors in the design wizard that will be appealing to your target market.
STEP 4: Add the "Items for sale" details into your website.
In this step, you will add the product(s)" that you will be selling on your website and building your inventory, pricing, and related product details into the website design you chose. This step is where you will insert your product images, any sale criteria and the your shipping options. Again, this step should be fairly easy as most design wizards use point and click technology to do this.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the product images and descriptions are easy to understand and attractive to your target market.
STEP 5: Setup the "Payment Options" you will be accepting on your online store.
You will have multiple payment options to choose from and it will be your decision to accept credit cards online. You can decide on using either a merchant account or PayPal® or offline through your own credit card swipe machine.
IMPORTANT: Choose the payment option will be the most convenient to process and will be appealing to your customers.
STEP 6: "Publish and manage your online business." Simple one-click publishing lets you take your Web site "live" on the Internet. You can even monitor changes to your Web site in real-time and manage your growing business with a customer database, order fulfillment and sales reporting tools.
IMPORTANT: Make sure your site is set-up and has the look you want to promote to your customers prior to publishing it over the internet.
